Onion Pakora

Onion Pakora, also known as onion bhaji, is a popular Indian snack made from thinly sliced onions coated in a spiced gram flour batter and deep-fried until crispy and golden brown. It is a perfect snack for a rainy day, evening tea or can be served as a starter or side dish in Indian meals.

To make Onion Pakora, thinly sliced onions are mixed with a batter made from gram flour (also known as besan), rice flour, and spices such as cumin, coriander, chili powder, and turmeric. Water is added to the mixture to form a thick batter, which is then rested for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

The batter-coated onion slices are then deep-fried in hot oil until crispy and golden brown. The result is a crunchy and savory snack that is bursting with flavor. Onion Pakora is typically served hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and a variety of chutneys or sauces such as mint chutney or tamarind chutney.

Onion Pakora is not only delicious but also a good source of nutrients. Onion is a rich source of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin B6, and potassium. Gram flour is a good source of protein and dietary fiber, making Onion Pakora a filling and satisfying snack.

Onion Pakora is a versatile dish that can be customized to your liking by adding other vegetables such as spinach, potato, or cauliflower. The addition of these vegetables not only adds variety to the dish but also increases its nutritional value.

Overall, Onion Pakora is a delicious and easy-to-make Indian snack that is perfect for any occasion. Its crispy texture and bold flavors make it a favorite among food lovers around the world.
